Kenny Garret è uno degli altosassofonisti più imitati a livello internazionale, 30 anni di carriera e collaborazioni con nomi quali Miles Davis, Woody Shaw, Marcus Miller, Ron Carter. Ha iniziato a suonare con la Duke Ellington Orchestra (condotta da Mercer Elligton, figlio del pianista e compositore Duke Ellington), che lo ha lanciato sui palchi di tutto il mondo, plasmando uno stile sempre più riconoscibile.

Sul palco del LJF porterà il suo progetto musicale DO your Dance (2016), suo ultimo lavoro, e sarà accompagnato dal suo quintetto composto da Corcoran Holt (acoustic), Samuel Laviso (drums), Vernell Brown (acoustic piano), Rudy Bird (percussion).
Un improvvisatore con doti musicali rarissime sulle quali si fanno veri e propri studi accademici, un suono melodico e vigoroso che è diventato inconfondibile, uno stile musicale che rispecchia le sue influenze, la sua storia e la sua incessante voglia di sperimentare e far rivivere il passato in un presente cangiante e ricco di stimoli.

Kenny Garret is one of the most imitated international alto-saxophonists, with his 30 years of career and collaborations with remarkable names such as Miles Davis, Woody Shaw, Marcus Miller, Ron Carter. He began playing with the Duke Ellington Orchestra (conducted by Mercer Elligton, son of the pianist and composer Duke Ellington) which brought him on stages all around the globe, shaping an increasingly recognizable style.
On the stage of the LJF he will present his musical project DO your Dance (2016), his latest work, and will be accompanied by his quintet: Corcoran Holt (acoustic), Samuel Laviso (drums), Vernell Brown (acoustic piano), Rudy Bird (percussion).�An improviser with very rare musical skills, taken as case of study by several Music Academies, he displays a melodic and vigorous sound that has become unmistakable, a musical style that reflects his influences, his history and his incessant desire to experiment and revive the past in an inspiring and vibrant present.
