Il sassofonista salentino Raffaele Casarano con il New International 4tet aprirà il LJF 2018 con la presentazione del nuovo lavoro discografico Oltremare, progetto musicale in cui convergono esperienze, culture e poetiche differenti. Casarano è ormai uno dei più noti interpreti del filone New Jazz Generation italiano, attualmente in una fase nuova della propria carriera. Sul palco insieme a Raffaele Casarano anche i francesi Eric Legnini al pianoforte, Fender Rodhes e Synth e Manu Katché alla batteria (storico compagno di viaggio di Peter Gabriel, di Sting e tanti altri) e, infine, lo svedese Lars Danielsson al contrabbasso (già al fianco di Michael Brecker, Vince Mendoza, Jack DeJohnette). Oltremare gode di una trama magica di storie e influenze musicali: le atmosfere morbide del soul, la radicalità dell'Africa del Gospel più puro e incantato, le note malinconiche del blues e poi il vissuto di ognuno dei musicisti coinvolti, le loro formazioni e le loro preziose visioni.

The Apulian saxophonist Raffaele Casarano with the New International 4tet will open the LJF 2018 with the presentation of his new album Oltremare, a musical project in which different experiences, cultures and poetics are combined. At present, Casarano is one of the best-known performers of the Italian New Jazz Generation line and he is now living a new phase of his career. Raffaele Casarano will play with the French musicians Eric Legnini at the piano, Fender Rodhes and Synth, Manu Katché at the drums (historical collaborator of Peter Gabriel, Sting and many others) and the Swedish Lars Danielsson at the double bass (already at the side of Michael Brecker, Vince Mendoza, Jack DeJohnette). Oltremare presents a magical plot of stories and musical influences: the soft atmospheres of soul, the radicalism of the most enchanted and pure African Gospel, the melancholic notes of the blues and then the experience of each of the musicians, their education and their precious visions all contribute to an exquisite blend.
