Alto Lido's tower

It is a coastal tower located in the town of Galatone, in the Municipality of Montagna Spaccat. Located at 71 meters above sea level, it was built in 1565 with defensive functions on the project of the viceroy Don Pedro da Toledo. Around it there is a staircase that leads to the upper floor. Findings of flint artefacts, pottery and obsidian prove the attendance of the site since Neolithic times.
